"The War Within" (installation) 2014
silkscreen repeat pattern on tulle & cotton duck
approx. 108" x 300" (as shown-- dimensions variable to site)
"The War Within" is about defenses versus vulnerability, conformity versus individuality, mind versus body; in short, it is about the daily struggle of being both part of and separate from something other than ones self. It is also about how we respond to traumatic events, both individually and as a society; it is about my own response to a traumatic event in my life, and the difficulties inherent in meeting, working through, and overcoming that event. It is about internal struggle, memory, and healing-- my experience as a microcosm of the common experience of being in this world.
