"Everyday Ceremonies" suite                2013

"Everyday Ceremonies" was conceived in response to a number of questions I asked myself: "How do we know what is the right path forward in a relationship?" "What are we obligated to carry from previous generations?" "Can the past provide a model for a way forward?" "What does it mean to make progress or leave the past behind?" These are all questions I contemplated as I ended a long-term emotionally abusive relationship-- one which changed the way I thought about myself and my past, how I interacted with the world around me, and how I attempted to manage on a daily basis. This piece, in many ways, was a turning point in my work, in terms of the personal information I attempted to share.
